Editorial Checks

A publication writes down its editorial policies: what it will and will not say, how it words things, what a claim needs. Editorial Checks apply those policies to a draft with Humanus policy packs and offer rewrite options. The policies, the settings and the editors' decisions belong to the publication; Humanus is stateless and receives the pack with each call.

Findings warn. They do not block publishing, and when an editor accepts, fixes or dismisses a finding that decision is stored, so an admin can recalibrate the judgment checks from it.

A bot can run the checks too. A Tactus tool, papyrus_check_story_version, runs them on a story version, which is how the copy-edit Stage Bot on Distinctive Mark works: it runs the checks, fixes what it can without changing a legal fact, and holds the story if a fix would. The procedure is open: ruling_copy_edit.tac.

The details are in the Papyrus repository, in docs/editorial-checks.md and docs/editorial-context.md.
